From humble beginnings almost 50 years ago, the Emirates Airline Dubai Rugby Sevens has grown into an incredible three day event that attracts fans from all over the world.
The action on the pitch is world-class, Dubai is the first round of the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series and the second round of the HSBC World Rugby Women's Sevens Series. The Emirates Airline Dubai Rugby Sevens is also a big social event, from family fun to fancy dress, if you want to let your hair down this is the place to be. Watch the rugby, support your team and then party late into the night for a weekend to remember!
The heart and soul of The Sevens Stadium is pitch one which is transformed into a fantastic sporting arena for the tournament, hosting the world's best rugby sevens players and some of THE most passionate fans on the planet. Yes, they come to have fun, but they take supporting their team very seriously!
The rugby isn't limited to the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series. There’s also the Invitation Tournament, with over 290 teams in the the rugby and netball tournament meaning over the three days all eight pitches and netball courts are in full swing. The Emirates Airline Dubai Rugby Sevens actually started as an Invitation Tournament 50 years ago so it’s a proud part of the event’s history.

The Rugby Village has everything from entertainment to official merchandise, concerts, competitions, and plenty of food and drinks to choose from for all ages and tastes. Have a go at cool activities from our partners, win some great prizes or just catch up with friends for a drink or a bite to eat.
For kids, the Emirates kids Zone will be buzzing again with lots of activities on offer for younger fans. Circus workshops will keep aspiring acrobats and jugglers entertained, there’s face painting, mascots to play with, bouncy castles and a whole load of other cool stuff to do. For the very little ones Raffles Nursery will be be offering excellent professional childcare and entertainment, giving parents a chance to relax with friends knowing their children are well looked after.
Plus, there’s a special entrance for families, and 2,000 designated seats reserved for families and kids in a no alcohol zone in the family stand, so you can come and enjoy the rugby in a genuinely family friendly environment.

The 16 teams are drawn into four pool groups of four. They play each other once. The top two teams in each pool will progress to the Main Cup competition and the chance to win a gold medal, while lower ranked teams will contest a new Challenge Trophy competition.
The 12 teams are placed in three pools of 4 and play in a round robin. The top eight teams play off in the Cup Competition with the chance to win a gold medal. Teams ranked 9-12 play off for the Challenge Trophy.
